Identify adapalene, not the brand’s other treatments
The reviewed gel contains adapalene 0.1%. It is a leave-on retinoid treatment, distinct from PanOxyl’s benzoyl-peroxide washes and acne patches. That difference should remain visible whenever products from the same brand appear together in a shop or comparison.[source]
The manufacturer’s adapalene page includes photographs labeled for other PanOxyl products. They are not evidence of this gel’s performance. A useful review should connect a result to the exact product studied or used, rather than borrow a brand-wide before-and-after image.
The inactive ingredients are part of the comparison
PanOxyl publishes a formula including phenoxyethanol and a carbomer, along with other supporting ingredients. Differin’s published list includes methylparaben and a differently described carbomer. These details establish a difference in the listed formulations; they do not prove one preservative system is safer or one gel is better tolerated.[source][source]
A reader with a known ingredient allergy should check the current package and seek appropriate advice. A person without such a history should not treat an unfamiliar ingredient name as evidence of harm. We have not tested the gels or compared their delivery systems.
A retail treatment still needs realistic expectations
The AAD advises allowing acne treatment time and avoiding repeated product changes that irritate the skin. Review the complete routine, especially when another retinoid or exfoliating treatment is already present. Follow the product’s current Drug Facts instructions and raise pregnancy or other relevant health questions with a clinician.[source][source]
A product review cannot determine whether a breakout is acne or assess scarring risk. Persistent or severe concerns deserve clinical assessment. This page compares published product information and does not supply an individualized application schedule.
Buy the intended tube
Record the exact gel, tube quantity and retailer charge. The official source did not provide a universal price to use across sellers. Compare that with the same quantity of a competing gel, while keeping any separate clinical-care cost outside the retail bottle comparison. Read the PanOxyl-versus-Differin guide for a structured way to do that.
